Sound and Fury: How Not To Fuse Metrics and Marketing

Courtesy of the folks who make the game Fury, this would be an example of how not to fuse gameplay metrics and marketing.

Aside from the “our statistics report that you are a loser” hilarity of it, I’m not sure it’s a good idea to assert that, statistically speaking, if you win our game three times you are likely to play dozens more. As a gamer, I look at that and think, “Well, yeah, you self-selected the 10 people who love your game and are pretty good at it, and the rest of the players ran screaming after less than three games.”

Perhaps there’s a better marketing tie-in they can get from their stats.
