GameStrata Launches

Exciting news week for metrics: a new site for gamers to track performance statistics, called GameStrata, has launched its semi-public beta.
They offer some pretty deep statistics, and according to various reports, if you have an account you can compare your stats to those of your friends. I would imagine it’s similar to the way Valve’s Steam Community handles the comparison.
I’m interested to see where this site goes. It can be tough partnering with individual games for consumer-facing metrics. And I’m wondering how the partnership works: when GameStrata partners with a game company, what kind of integration needs to take place within the code base of the original game?
Hey, Darius. Not to toot my own horn, but I just wanted to point out that all of those Battlefield stats are actually driven by US (GameSpy) and our middleware. They’re merely consuming and repackaging the feed.
See the original BF2 portal we built for EA here.
The BF2142 site took it even further: here

Interesting! Is the feed available for public consumption, or is that what the partnership entailed: access to the feed?

The BF2 feed is available – not to the general public but with permission from EA. They’ve granted access to a number of people running stats sites similar to Gamestrata.
2142, unfortunately, doesn’t have a feed available. We’re happy to do whatever the publisher desires.
Our goal going forward is to provide the feed for every game that uses our backend so long as the publisher consents. I’d love to see this information out in the community and put to good use.
